Electrical Panel Upgrades

Outdated panel? We provide safe, code-compliant upgrades that handle today’s electrical demands.

Electrical Panel Upgrades

Your panel is the heart of your electrical system. If yours is a Federal Pioneer Stab-Lok, a fuse box, or a 60/100-amp service struggling to keep up with today’s demands, an upgrade isn’t cosmetic. It’s the foundation every other electrical decision rests on. Brad personally inspects, plans, and pulls the permit so the upgrade is done once, done right, and ESA-certified.

Often paired with ev charger installation, knob & tube replacement, and hot tub & pool wiring. We coordinate the whole job under a single permit when it makes sense.

FAQ

Panel Upgrades: questions we hear most.

Real answers from a master electrician. If you don’t see yours, call directly and we’ll work through it.

How much does a 200-amp panel upgrade cost?
Cost depends on whether your existing service can be reused, the length of the run from the meter to the panel, whether the mast or meter base needs replacing, and what your panel feeds. Older homes with knob and tube or panels that need to be relocated take longer than a straightforward swap. Brad walks the job, confirms what is actually involved, and gives you a fixed quote before any work starts.
How long does a panel upgrade take?
Once permits and the utility disconnect window are scheduled, the install itself is typically a single day. Power is restored the same day in most cases. Insurance documentation and the ESA certificate follow shortly after.
Do I need a panel upgrade for an EV charger?
Often, yes. A Level 2 EV charger draws 30 to 50 amps continuously. Most 100-amp panels are already close to capacity, so a load calculation is the first step. If your panel is already at 200 amps, a dedicated circuit is usually all you need.
My panel is a Federal Pioneer Stab-Lok. Should I replace it?
Yes. Federal Pioneer Stab-Lok panels are widely flagged for failing to trip during faults, and most Canadian insurers now require their replacement. Replacing it with a modern panel is the single best electrical safety upgrade you can make.
Do you pull the ESA permit?
Always. Every panel upgrade we do is pulled and inspected under our ECRA license. You receive the ESA certificate for your records and your insurer.
