Renovations & Additions

From new construction to renovations and additions, we do it all.

Renovations & Additions

Renovation electrical is a different sport than new construction. You’re working around plaster, knob & tube, hidden splices, and circuits the original electrician thought no one would ever trace. We map what’s there before we add to it, fix the legacy issues that should have been fixed years ago, and bring the affected portion of the house up to current code.

Often paired with knob & tube replacement, panel upgrades, and energy-efficient lighting. We coordinate the whole job under a single permit when it makes sense.

FAQ

Renovations & Additions: questions we hear most.

Real answers from a master electrician. If you don’t see yours, call directly and we’ll work through it.

Do you work alongside other trades on a renovation?
Yes. Renovation electrical only goes well when it is sequenced properly with the framer, drywaller, plumber, and HVAC. We coordinate timing directly with whoever is managing the job.
What if you find knob and tube during demo?
It happens often in older Oshawa, Whitby, and Bowmanville homes. We document what is exposed, give you a fixed price to remove it, and bring the affected portion of the house up to current code.
Do bathrooms need any special wiring?
Yes. Bathrooms require GFCI protection on receptacles, vent fans on dedicated circuits in some cases, and proper isolation between vanity lighting and shower fixtures. We meet or exceed all current OESC requirements.
Can you add a sub-panel for a finished basement?
Yes. If your existing panel is at capacity, a 60- or 100-amp sub-panel in the basement is the cleanest way to support new circuits for pot lights, theatre, sauna, or workshop loads.
